A differenza dei materiali solidi, liquidi o gassosi, che si trovano naturalmente nell&#8217;ambiente, lo stato plasma pu\u00f2 essere ottenuto solo quando un gas \u00e8 sottoposto ad un continuo apporto energetico.<\/p>\n<p>Ad esempio: lo stato del plasma pu\u00f2 essere ottenuto posizionando 2 elettrodi in un ambiente gassoso e quindi mantenendo la tensione elettrica per generare una scarica. In condizioni di bassa pressione, lo stato del plasma deve essere ottenuto attraverso una camera a vuoto accoppiata ad un sistema di pompaggio per ottenere una pressione inferiore a quella atmosferica. Questa configurazione apre grandi possibilit\u00e0 per un trattamento superficiale; Tuttavia, la durata delle fasi di pompaggio, le dimensioni della camera a vuoto ed i costi legati al funzionamento sono spesso svantaggi che limitano le potenziali implementazioni su scala industriale, soprattutto nelle linee di produzione continue.<\/p>\n<p>A pressione atmosferica, lo stato del plasma \u00e8 prodotto da dispositivi specificatamente sviluppati per funzionare in queste condizioni.
